Arctic Canada Tourism Network

The Arctic Canada Tourism Network (ACTN) brings together the tourism industry associations of the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and the Yukon to collaborate on the opportunities and challenges shaping tourism across Canada’s Arctic.

Many of the issues affecting Arctic tourism — such as transportation, workforce development, climate resilience, Indigenous partnerships, infrastructure, research and investment — extend beyond territorial boundaries. By working together, the three territories can achieve more than they could alone.

ACTN provides a united voice for Arctic tourism, helping ensure tourism is recognized as a strategic contributor to resilient communities, economic prosperity, Arctic sovereignty and the long-term future of Canada’s North.

Working together across the Arctic

ACTN creates value by bringing together the right people, knowledge and partnerships to address issues that no single territory can solve alone. Working alongside governments, Indigenous organizations, researchers, industry leaders and international partners, the Network strengthens collaboration, shares knowledge and helps ensure tourism contributes to broader conversations about the Arctic’s future.

Together, we identify emerging opportunities, build strategic partnerships, connect research with industry, and advance collaborative initiatives that strengthen tourism across Canada’s Arctic and throughout the circumpolar North.

Why it matters

Tourism is more than a visitor economy. It supports local businesses, creates employment, strengthens transportation networks, celebrates Indigenous cultures, attracts private investment and contributes to vibrant, resilient northern communities.

As Canada’s Arctic continues to evolve, ACTN is working to ensure tourism has a strong voice in the conversations shaping the region’s future. By strengthening collaboration across the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and the Yukon, the Network helps build a more connected, resilient and competitive Arctic tourism sector — one that benefits communities today while contributing to the long-term future of the North.

Current areas of focus

ACTN’s priorities evolve as the Arctic evolves. Current areas of collaboration include Arctic sovereignty and security, research and knowledge exchange, workforce development, tourism resilience and stewardship, transportation and infrastructure, circumpolar partnerships — including with the Arctic Europe Tourism Cluster — and strengthening recognition of tourism as a strategic Arctic sector.
